Solar Employs More People In U.S. Electricity Generation Than Oil, Coal And Gas Combined

Solar power is becoming one of the main power sources in the US, as data shows that solar power employed more people last year than any other power (coal, gas, oil). A report published by the US Department of Energy, shows that 43% of the employees working in the power sector, have been doing work in the field of solar power. So apparently US is going green and green energy projects are doing a great favor to the economic system. Around 374,000 work in the field of solar energy and 187,000 in the other sectors, such as coal, oil and gas power. This also means that people are opting for the use of renewable energy to power their households and choose to be more responsible towards the environment.
Fuel production and electricity generation together directly employed 1.9 million workers last year, according to the report, with 55%, or 1.1 million, working with fossil fuels. The DoE identifies another 2.3 million jobs associated with energy transmission, distribution and storage.
Solar energy added 73,615 new jobs to the U.S. economy over the past year while wind added a further 24,650.
