Illustrator Imagines a World Where Gentle Giant Animals Live Among Humans

Japanese artist Monokubo was inspired by Studio Ghibli films when he made his fantasy illustrations featuring cuddly larger than life animals.
She draws gentle giants that resemble characters from My Neighbor Totoro or Princess Mononoke and inserts them in everyday life situations. Her illustrations have a calmness around them and at the same time are there to comfort viewers through their soft color palette.
The huge and fluffy animals from Monokubo’s illustration have caught the attention of both adults and children, and her Instagram account has more than 19,000 followers.
Her main inspiration is her very own cat, and it is obvious at a first glance of her work that felines are her favorite characters. Besides cats, her work features several more animals such as raccoons, wolves, and bunnies.
She has even released a book with her illustrations, called Megalophilia and you can order it from Amazon.
It can be a great Christmas present for anyone who is a fan of Japanese illustrations and adorable animal drawings.
