How to make your own paint for kids

paint-for-kids

Kids like to do all sorts of art projects, but some of these can turn out to be an expensive hobby. For instance, let’s take painting. Once your kid starts to paint, it can seem a never ending activity, as it can go on until there is no paint left. He/she will have a great time, but the next day you’ll have to go and buy some new colors. To save some money, you can make the paint at home and it will be the same as the store-bought one, if not better. The recipe for your homemade paint is simple: one cup salt, one cup flour, one cup water and food coloring.

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and store the paint in clean ketchup bottles. This is great for two reasons, as you will be both recycling and creating any color of paint that you want. Besides this, when your child finishes one bottle of paint, you can easily make a new one at home in a few minutes.

Did not work. Came out gritty and the color was light and it wasn’t usable. Any ideas on what to do to fix.

maybe if you boil the cup of salt and water (to dissolve the salt) then add the flour and food coloring?

I try to make this paint but it didn’t turn out good at all you can’t paint with it. The salt makes it all bumpy and paint smooth. Need help on where I went wrong I added more water to losing it up some but the salt still makes it bumpy and I followed the directions perfectly. Let me know what I need to do to make it smoother?

Does not work. Awful and gritty. Thankful the flour and salt were inexpensive but still a bit irritating because I needed it for a big project and didn’t want to spend a lot of money of paints
