Basil is one great ingredient, as it can change the taste of a dish instantly and give it a nice twist. One of the best things that can be made out of basil is pesto. For the pesto, you will need: fresh basil, olive oil, black pepper, salt, garlic, Parmesan cheese and pine nuts. Chop the garlic and put it in a food processor then add the basil too. When they are chopped, add the nuts, the salt, the pepper and the cheese and chop these too. Slowly pour the olive oil, but keep the machine turned on and mix the ingredients. Place the pesto in a container and you can keep it like that for a whole week. You can also freeze the pesto if you want, by pouring it in ice cube compartments. Use your pesto for sandwiches, pasta, meat and even as a dip, as it will be delicious in any combination.
